Budding politicians

This week, after campaigning and getting 20 signatures on their petition, the Head Pupils were invited to present their deputation at Lambeth Council to “Save The Nature Garden”.  Children were keen to make the Palace Road Nature Garden safer. Currently the space is dangerous and feels extremely unsafe for the community to use it. There are a number of schools and nurseries down Palace Road who would like to use the space to enhance learning, however are not able to due to illegal activity.

When the children arrived at Lambeth Town Hall, they were taken aback by its beauty and regality! They prepared and delivered a 5 minute speech on the three suggestions to improve the nature garden: lock it at night, install more lighting and invest in CCTV in the area. They did Streatham Wells proud! They received a roaring round of applause and even got to meet the mayor! We can’t wait to hear more about the changes put in place due to their campaigning. Watch this space.
